Its subjects are Greek and Latin literature and linguistics, including early Christian texts and patristics, Greek and Roman history, philosophy, art, archaeology, religion, mythology, music, and science. Its coverage begins in the second millennium B. C. E. with pre-classical archaeology, and ends with the period of transition from late antiquity to the middle ages (roughly 500-800 C.E.).
Thirty-two years (1969-1999) of the Année philologique (volumes 40 to 71) have been put on-line by the Société Internationale de Bibliographie Classique. Each spring a new volume will be added to the database added. The digitization of volumes before vol. 40 is being undertaken by the DCB (Database of Classical Bibliography) with the next update planned for 2004. |
