COACHES' PROFILES
Robin Hamilton
Head Softball Coach
Coach Robin Hamilton has developed a softball program at the University of Puget Sound that is considered one of the finest in the Northwest. Coach Hamilton's program is a comprehensive collegiate program designed for the true student-athlete who wants success in the classroom while enjoying a national caliber athletic experience.
In 22 years at Puget Sound she has had 17 winning seasons, two NAIA National runner-up finishes and five All-Conference and All-Regional Coach of the Year awards. Her career mark stands at 455-305-3 overall, the most wins by any coach in Puget Sound history. Puget Sound has had ten first-team All-Americans, three of which were pitchers, 8 NAIA National All-Tournament Players, and nearly 70 All-Conference student-athletes. As importantly, the Logger program has earned a 3.1 gpa or better for the past 22 years.
In 2000 Hamilton was granted a five-month leave to take a position with the Sydney Olympic Organising Committee as the Venue Press Manager for Softball.
Hamilton came to Puget Sound after a two-sport career at Idaho State University where she was a four-year starter in both softball and volleyball. As a collegian she played four different positions during the course of her career and is the all-time single-season RBI leader at ISU. As a high school athlete she was a Colorado All-State performer in volleyball and basketball.
"We strongly believe that there is a difference between just playing a sport and being on a team," notes Hamilton. "I see myself as an educator and I am committed to helping young people to improve in whatever area is important to them. Softball is such a great sport and the quest to reach one's personal best is so exhilarating, I completely enjoy the challenge."
