Head Coach Justin Lunt

Justin Lunt begins his first season as head coach of the men's basketball team for the University of Puget Sound. Lunt was appointed head men's basketball coach in April of 2007 following one year as interim head coach for the Loggers. As the interim head coach, Lunt led the Loggers to an 18-7 record and their 4th consecutive post season appearance. The 2006-2007 Loggers set several school records, including scoring the most points in a single-game (140 pts vs. Willamette on 12/1/06), as well as most 3-point baskets made in a game (21 made vs. Menlo on 11/18/06). Also, last year's team had the second highest offensive scoring average in school history (97.1 pts per game for 06-07 season).
Lunt is no stranger to Logger Basketball, first hired in 2004 as the head assistant coach. As an assistant coach, Lunt was in charge of recruiting as well as on-court coaching, individual player development and the academic advising of the student-athletes. Since Lunt's arrival in 2004, the Puget Sound Men's Basketball team has been in the post season four times, as well as making National Tournament three times, and reaching the Sweet 16 each time with an Elite 8 appearance in 2006.
Prior to his arrival at UPS, Lunt began his college coaching career when he was hired as the second assistant coach at St. Martin's College in nearby Lacey, WA. While there, his responsibilities included film exchange, assisting with team travel, on-court coaching, academic advising and other administrative duties. Lunt began his coaching career at nearby Fife High School and was the Varsity Assistant Head Coach and Head JV coach for three years. While there, he helped the Trojans reach the state playoffs in 2002 for the first time since 1992.
Lunt holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Recreational Administration. A native of San Diego, Calif., Lunt resides in Tacoma with his wife, Renee.
Assistant Coach Matt Robles
Matt Robles begins his second year as the main assistant coach on the Puget Sound coaching staff. Robles joined the Puget Sound coaching staff in 2005, following a four-year playing career at UC Santa Cruz. Robles serves as Puget Sound's recruiting coordinator in addition to on-floor coaching, individual player development, scouting opponents, academic advising, and day-to-day operations of the men's basketball program.
While playing at UC Santa Cruz, Robles started 98 of 99 career games and led the team in steals and assists his junior and senior seasons. Prior to UCSC, Robles played three years of varsity basketball at Garces Memorial High School in Bakersfield, Calif. As a senior, he was named South Sequoia League Player of the Year, Kern County Player of the Year, Central Section Sequoia/Sierra Division Player of the Year and First Team Division IV All-State. At Garces, he played alongside current Seattle Supersonic Robert Swift.
Robles, who is working towards his master's degree in Organizational Leadership, received his bachelor's degree in Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz in 2005. Robles is single and resides in Tacoma.
Assistant Coach Garrett Miller
Garrett Miller begins his second year as a part of the Puget Sound coaching staff after being hired in the spring of 2006. Prior to his arrival at Puget Sound, Miller was the boys varsity head coach at Lakes High School in nearby Lakewood, WA. Miller enjoyed a two-year playing career at Pacific Lutheran University after transferring from Highline Community College and playing alongside current Boston Celtic, Brian Scalabrine. Miller also played two years professionally for the BBall Landshut in Germany after PLU. Miller's responsibilities include, but not limited to, on-floor coaching, post player development, scouting, academic advising, and other administrative duties. Currently, Miller is a Physical Education Teacher at Lakes High School and resides in nearby Lakewood, WA with his wife Betsy, and their son Aaron.
