Reputation
You're serious about academics, and so are we. The University of Puget Sound has embraced a rigorous academic tradition in the liberal arts since our inception in 1888. Our record is one of distinction: the University of Puget Sound is the only nationally ranked liberal arts school in Western Washington, and one of only two independent colleges in Washington granted a charter by Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s most prestigious academic honorary. In addition, graduating seniors at Puget Sound have received Watson Fellowships at a rate of better than one per year and have earned nearly a dozen Fulbright awards in the last four years.

Our students help generate our positive reputation, and they continue to receive recognition and honors after they graduate. Among colleges of under 5,000 students, Puget Sound has the largest number of alumni currently serving as Peace Corps volunteer worldwide, and a high percentage of our graduates who applied were accepted to medical and dental schools. Through the Alumni Sharing Knowledge program, Puget Sound alumni assist students with graduate school and entry into careers worldwide.
