Programs & Resources

The programs and resources provided by Multicultural Student Services focuses on supporting students of color; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students; women; students of different faiths, and all students interested in diversity issues.  Staff members coordinate advising for many student groups, including the Asian Pacific American Student Union, the Mixed Race Generation, Jewish Students Organization, as well as a variety of educational and social activities promoting cross-cultural awareness.

Annual Programs

Our office sponsors several annual programs in support of our mission.  These include producing the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration, which is long-standing tradition observed at Puget Sound before it was a national holiday.  We also participate in programming during times like Women's History Month, Black History Month, and Asian Pacific Heritage Month.  Along with these programs, our office has offered a seven week long Students of Color Leadership Insititute and provides mentoring opportunities for exploring a career in student affairs through the National Asscociation for Student Personnel Administrators' Minority Undergraduate Fellows Program.

Year-Round Programs

In support of the mission of enhancing intercultural awareness and creating a leaning environment in which the entire campus feels welcome and supported, Multicultural Student Services coordinates the several programs and services throughout the year.  These include the efforts by the Sexuality Issues, Relationships, and Gender Education (SIRGE) coordinator and on-going trainings about creating Safe Zones for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students and the campus community. In addition, we have resources for LGBT prospective and current students.
