Diversity Theme Year
Academic year 2007-08 will mark the University of Puget Sound's seventeenth year sponsoring a Diversity Theme Year. A major feature of the theme years has been the focus of lectures, arts events, programs and student activities around a selected theme. Theme year programming is led primarily by student leaders and programmers, in collaboration with interested staff and faculty.
The theme year program has proven successful in highlighting issues of identity and cultural awareness, in strengthening student affinity groups and coalitions, and in giving visibility to many groups that are underrepresented on our campus.
Theme years open opportunities for the campus community to address broad questions--such as those of visibility and invisibility, economic inequality and justice, religious conviction and acceptance of differences--which cross boundaries of race, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation.
There are weekly meetings concerning the Diversity Theme Year. The meetings are open to all interested students, faculty, and staff. Please consider dropping in.
The Fall 2007 meeting time will set after September 7th 2007.
