Thompson Science Complex is the largest academic facility and offers exceptional facilities for undergraduate study and research in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics and Computer Science, and Physics, as well as interdisciplinary study in Natural Science. The facilities include laboratories for animal physiology, laser, fluid mechanics, X-ray and science computing. Among the equipment available to student and faculty researchers are: a seismograph, a Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer, a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, scanning and transmission electron microscopes, a UV-VIS NIR spectrophotometer and a high-speed refrigerated centrifuge. Students also make use of an observatory, a greenhouse and the Slater Museum of Natural History, which contains over 65,000 specimens of birds, mammals, amphibians and plants. |
