Occupational Therapy

Admission to the School of Occupational Therapy consists of two phases.  First, a student must be admitted to the University of Puget Sound as a regular student (Phase I).  Second, a student must be admitted to the Occupational Therapy program (Phase II).  Application materials must be submitted prior to January 15th.

Occupational Therapy Application Checklist:  Phase I

  • Complete the Application for Graduate Admission (Phase I) online or download ($40 application fee, credit card or check, unless submitted previously, made out to the University of Puget Sound, referencing the student's name and sent to the Office of Admission) prior to January 15th.
  • Arrange to have official transcripts sent directly to the University of Puget Sound for each college/university attended.

Occupational Therapy Application Checklist:  Phase II

  • Complete the Occupational Therapy Degree Candidacy Application (Phase II) online or download ($25 application fee, credit card or check, made out to the University of Puget Sound, referencing the student's name).  Unless otherwise noted, send all materials to the Office of Admission prior to January 15th.
  • Complete and send the Prerequisite Worksheet.
  • Complete and send your essay entitled Reasons for Pursuing Occupational Therapy Study at Puget Sound.
  • Complete and send the Work and Experience Sheet.
  • Arrange to have Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores sent directly to the University of Puget Sound from the Educational Testing Service.
  • Distribute and arrange to have the following forms submitted:

- Educator Reference
- Employer Reference
- Occupational Therapist Reference

International applicants must also submit the Supplemental Application for International Students.

The Occupational Therapy program Admission Committee bases its graduate candidacy decisions on the best balance of the following:

  • Academic ability as demonstrated by grade point average and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
  • Written communication skills.
  • Understanding of the role and functions of occupational therapy and the importance of a graduate degree in occupational therapy.
  • Academic performance in prerequisite courses.
  • Letters of reference.
