Financial Aid

Financial aid available to graduate students is composed of federal loans, state work-study employment, and a limited number of departmental scholarships.

Eligibility for need-based financial aid is based on demonstrated financial need.  Financial need is defined as the difference between the total cost of attending Puget Sound and the amount you are expected to contribute as calculated by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The cost of attendance is the total cost of tuition billed by the university, plus a standard calculation for room and board allowance, books and supplies, transportation, and personal expenses.

Graduate PLUS Loan
Graduate students may pursue funding through the Graduate PLUS Loan program.  Students may borrow a PLUS Loan for any year that they are enrolled at least half-time. The interest rate is fixed at 8.5%. Fees of 3% are subtracted from each disbursement to cover the loan origination fee required for these federal loans.

Private Education Loan
There are many private lenders who offer private educational loans to students provided the qualifying credit and income criteria are met.

You can compare options for private education loans through Simple Tuition, a free online loan comparison tool.

Simply enter basic information and receive real-time loan options from multiple lenders, customized for the University of Puget Sound. You can sort results by interest rate, monthly payment, total cost of loan, first payment due date, and more.
