How long does it take to get ILL items?

On average it takes 6-10 working days.  Many arrive sooner.  However, other items may take several weeks to obtain or they simply may not be available at all.

^ top

How much does it cost?

The library pays up to $12.00 per request.  Any charges above $12.00 are deferred to the patron.  The library pays a maximum of 20 requests for each patron.  After that threshold is reached, all subsequent requests are the patron's responsibility.  Fortunately, we are able to obtain most items free of charge.  However, you are responsible for paying any overdue or replacement fees associated with the loan.

What if I need something fast?

If an article is needed quickly, a rush request can be submitted.  A rush request form must be filled out and turned in at the circulation desk along with a $2.00 rush fee.  This is a non-refundable processing fee and does not guarantee that the item will arrive by a certain date.  Books cannot be rush requested. More information about rush service...

How will I know when my requests arrive?

  • You will be notified either by telephone or e-mail, depending on your preference indicated in your ILLiad account.
  • If you have not picked up books by their due date, we will return them to the lending library.

How long can I keep my Interlibrary Loans?

  • Photocopies are yours to keep.
  • For returnables, the lending library determines the length of time an item is on loan and any other special lending conditions, such as library use only.
  • For renewals, If you need to renew an item, you can renew items from your ILLiad account. Logon to ILLiad and click on View/Renew Checked Out Items. If you are having trouble renewing an item, please contact the ILL staff. Also, be aware that the lending library may not grant the renewal.  You are expected to return all items on time and bear in mind that all interlibrary loans are subject to recall by the lending library.
