Some services are restricted to those who are employed or enrolled at this institution. This web page will help identify which services are available to visitors. Before visiting, we strongly recommend that you work with a librarian at your own college, school or public library. He or she may be able to uncover resources that you overlooked and/or make a referral to a library that best suits your needs. If you need to use another library, your librarian may be able to make arrangements on your behalf. Driving Directions From Interstate 5 From the North From Interstate 5, take Exit 132 and stay on the right side to head toward Gig Harbor/Bremerton/ Highway 16. Take the second exit, Union Avenue. Follow the directions below. From the South From Interstate 5, take Exit 132 and stay on the left to merge onto Highway 16 (if you stay to the right, you'll end up back on Interstate 5 heading north). Be careful; it is one of those ramps where you are trying to merge ON to Highway 16 and people are trying to merge OFF it at the same location! Once you have merged onto Highway 16, take the very next exit, Union Avenue. Follow the directions below: Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. Travel north about two miles; go straight through the light at 6th Avenue and the next light, North 11th. You will see the campus on your right. Continue on until you reach North 18th Street and turn right. The library is located behind the chapel. See the campus map for the exact location. Street parking is available on North 18th Street. You may also park in lots designated for general parking. Borrowing Policy Visitors are welcome to to use the print collection within the library. However, a community card is needed to borrow materials. The cost of a card is $100 for one year and may be purchased at the Circulation Desk. More detailed information about eligible borrowers and may be found on the Circulation Department's web page. Consortial Relationships The library has consortial relationships with other institutions. Check with your local library for more information. Interlibrary Loan Interlibrary loan requests are made only on behalf of the University's students, faculty, and staff. All materials, with a few exceptions, are available to visitors through interlibrary loan. Inquire at your library for details. Information Service Library staff at the Information Desk help users locate and retrieve information and provide basic help with the library's collections and resources. Priority is given to faculty, students and staff. Limited assistance is available to visitors. Photocopying Self-service, coin-operated photocopiers are available in the basement and main floor. The cost is 5 cents per page for the copiers on the ground floor and 10 cents per page for the newer copiers on the main floor. Collection There are over 425,000 volumes of books and bound journals, plus a sizable collection of federal and Washington state government publications, microforms, and media materials. Special collections of archival materials are also maintained. There is electronic access to the library catalog and hundreds of databases over the campus network. Computers Visitors may access SIMON, the library's online catalog. Databases are restricted to the University of Puget Sound faculty, students, and staff.
