Bassoonist Paul Rafanelli has been a member of the Seattle Symphony since 1992 and has taught bassoon and woodwind chamber music at Puget Sound since 1998.  He has performed with the Spoleto, Britt, and Icicle Creek Music Festivals, and has been a soloist with the Seattle Symphony, Northwest Chamber Orchestra, and Philharmonia Northwest.  He received his education from the University of Washington, Manhattan School of Music, and the Juilliard School.  He notes that the high academic standard at Puget Sound attracts students with a strong work ethic and who are eager to learn as much as possible about music in the context of their total college experience.
