Student EmploymentFederal Work-Study and State Work-Study programs offer students with financial need excellent part-time employment opportunities to earn funds to pay college expenses. Federal work-study jobs, available in many departments on campus, encompass a wide variety of skills and responsibilities. Job titles include Office Assistant, Athletic Program Assistant, and Computer Consultant, among others. All first-year students are referred to jobs on campus. Off-campus, career-related State Work-Study jobs require advanced skills and are especially suitable for students who have completed one or two years of study. Participating employers include businesses, social service agencies, arts organizations, and government entities. If your Financial Aid Award Notice includes work-study, you are eligible to earn up to the maximum amount listed on the award notice. Career and Employment Services coordinates and authorizes all hiring and staff members will refer you to an available work-study position or confirm your employment if you are returning to a previously held work-study job. First Time Work-Study Recipients In order to participate in this program, you will need to complete and return the required Work-Study Employment Information form. After June 1, you will receive separate notification giving you access to this form on the web. On the form, you can provide information about your skills, work experiences and job preferences. Career & Employment Services staff will review the information and then provide you with a job referral at a work-study orientation session in the fall. Work-Study for Continuing Students Complete the required Work-Study Employment Information form to notify Career and Employment Services of your employment plans. It is necessary to return the form even if you think you have a job arranged, so we can confirm the placement. You can link to this form through “Financial Aid Status” on Cascade web. If you held a work-study job on-campus during the academic year, in most cases that position will be renewed for the coming year unless you obtained a new position during the Career and Employment Services Work-Study Placement Sessions. Part-Time Employment Opportunities Career and Employment Services maintains a job board, located outside of their office, with listings of part-time and summer employment opportunities available to all students. They include both on- and off-campus jobs, with new jobs posted as they become available. Job postings include the employer’s location and accessibility by public transit. Although priority in placement for on-campus jobs is given to those who have Federal Work- Study awards as part of their financial aid package, there are many openings for other students. Check the job board as soon as you arrive on campus for your best chance at an on-campus non work-study job. |
