Summer SessionTaking classes in Summer Session allows you to catch up on missed credits, complete prerequisites for Fall courses, and enroll in courses you have not been able to fit in. The Summer Session schedule offers a selection of courses from most of the academic departments along with several courses in the various University Core categories. By scheduling courses in short, intense blocks of time, Summer Session offers students a different educational experience: the opportunity to fully concentrate on one or two courses at a time. Information on course offerings is available on Cascade. Tuition is charged on a per unit basis. One unit is equivalent to four (4) semester hours and to six (6) quarter hours of credit. Students registering for two or more academic units may enroll in one activity class without charge. Summer Session 2008
1 unit | $3,000 | 2 units | $6,000 | 2.5 - 3 units | $7,500 | Each additional unit over 3 | $3,000 |
You must confirm your registration and intent to participate in the summer term by finalizing your financial arrangements. You will receive an Initial Payment Invoice indicating the tuition charges for the term. Initial Payment Invoices are created for registered students beginning in mid-April. To confirm your registration, you must complete the following steps before the first day of class for each summer session: - Sign a copy of your Initial Payment Invoice. You can provide your signature electronically on your Cascade Web account or by signing a paper copy of your invoice. Your signature is required even if financial aid fully covers your charges for the term and no payment is due.
- Submit the required payment due.
Registrations not paid and/or invoices not signed by the first day of class will be cancelled. Students are able to re-register on a space-available basis after financial arrangements have been confirmed. Degree seeking students who are enrolled for Summer Session at Puget Sound on at least a half-time basis will be considered for financial aid. Summer financial aid is limited to loans and work-study employment. Half-time enrollment for Summer Session is at least 2.0 units for undergraduate students and at least 1.5 units for graduate students. Remember, if your enrollment status changes, your financial aid award may also change. Student Financial Services is required to calculate the return of Federal and Institutional aid based on the date a student changes status or withdraws. Aid is returned through a prorated calculation. Students who drop from full to part-time status are re-evaluated based on overall changes to tuition and fees. Students wishing to apply for financial aid for the summer term must complete a Summer Application for Financial Assistance (Summer AFA). For priority consideration, the application is due by March 31. Tuition is not fully refundable after the first day of class. All students completely withdrawing from Summer term or dropping down in units may be eligible for tuition charge adjustments based on the official withdrawal date as provided by the Office of the Registrar.
