LOGGERS SWEEP MEYER-LAMBERTH CUPS

LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Puget Sound dominated the Meyer Lamberth Cup against Pacific Lutheran, beating the Lutes in all five races contested Saturday morning on calm waters of American Lake.
In the Lamberth Cup, featuring the schools' women's varsity 8 boats, the Loggers cruised to victory in a time of 6:54.80 while the Lutes finished in 7:27.09. In the Meyer Cup, featuring the men's varsity 8 boats, the Loggers rowed home in 6:17.93, followed by PLU in 6:54.51.
The competition opened with the women's junior varsity 8 boats. That race went to the UPS A boat in a time of 7:19.07, while the PLU boat finished in 7:34.87, just ahead of the UPS B boat, which finished in 7:35.32.
In the Mini Meyer between the men's novice 4 boats, Puget Sound took the top three places while PLU finished last. The Loggers A boat won in a time of 7:13.70, followed by the C boat in 7:53.48, the B boat in 7:55.59 and PLU in 7:57.13.
The Mini Lamberth race between the women's novice 8s went to UPS A in a time of 7:10.15, followed by PLU in 7:26.85 and UPS B in 7:38.00.
The Loggers will head down to California next weekend for the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships on Lake Natoma near Sacramento.
