LOGGER W. LACROSSE WINS FIFTH STRAIGHT

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -   Anna Gunderson (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) and Lindsay Pearce (Portland, Ore./Sunset) netted four goals apiece as the Puget Sound Loggers won their fifth straight match, 17-12, over the Pacific  Boxers in a NCAA Division III women's lacrosse match on Sunday afternoon in Forest Grove, Ore.

The Boxers, in just their second year of varsity competition, scored the games' first two goals within 26 seconds of each other but three goals by the Loggers (9-2) gave UPS a brief 3-2 lead.  Pacific scored four unanswered goals to take a 6-3 lead with just under 15 minutes remaining in the first half but the Logger offense cam alive again.  After Pearce scored back-to-back goals, Gunderson did the same and Jessica Knight (Portland, Ore./Grant) added a goal as Puget Sound took an 8-6 lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, two quick goals by the Boxers' Lilia Lee tied the match at 8-8 and the two teams traded the next two goals before Sofia Lama (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Torrey Pines) began a three-goal Logger run that put them back in front and Pacific never caught up as Puget Sound collected the 17-12 win.

Gunderson added two assists to go with her four goals while Pearce also added an assist to her scoring quartet.  Knight finished with three goals while Lame, Lindsay O'Brien (Reading, Vt./Westminster) and Elizabeth Butt (Eugene, Ore./Sheldon) all finished with two goals.  Ana Calciano (Farmington, Conn./Miss Porter's School) made 12 saves to collect the win.

For the Boxers, Lee led the team in scoring with four goals.  Mimi Takamune and Abby Coleman each added three goals.  Valerie Nelson made 18 saves in net, allowing the 17 UPS goals.

The Loggers return home on Saturday to take on Linfield at Noon on Peyton Field.
