WRAPPING UP THE 2008 SEASON

The Loggers will wrap up the 2008 season this week as they travel to George Fox and Willamette. Currently 2-12 on the year, the Loggers have been eliminated from contention for the NWC Championships next week.

The Loggers vs. Whitworth

Sophomore Rochelle Hebert (Lake Tapps, Wash./Auburn Riverside) pickup up the lone UPS victory as the Puget Sound Loggers fell to the Whitworth Pirates, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Friday night at UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

The Loggers nearly picked up a point in doubles play as the number one team of Katie Schultz (Auburn, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) and Samantha Taylor (Hood River, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) dropped a 9-8 decision to Linh Aven and Rachel Burns. In singles play, Hebert record the lone UPS point, defeating Taryn Smith, 6-1, 6-4.

The Loggers vs. Whitman

Penny Horowitz (Berkeley, Calif./Head Royce) collected the lone Logger victory of the day as the Whitman Missionaries defeated the Puget Sound Loggers, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

In doubles play, the number two team of Alissa Wolf (Durango, Colo.) and Ashley Spencer (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) was the Loggers best chance to gain a point but dropped a 9-7 decision to Alex Robinson and Hadley DeBree as Whitman finished doubles play up 3-0.

In singles play, Horowitz collected the Loggers lone victory at the number six spot, defeating Jacquie Frank, 5-7, 6-4, 1 (10-6). Rochelle Hebert (Lake Tapps, Wash./Auburn Riverside) nearly gave the Loggers a second point before falling to Robinson, 6-7, 6-3, 1 (10-4).

Scouting George Fox

The Bruins come into the weekend with a record of 3-15 overall and 2-12 in NWC play. George Fox is 29-77 in singles matches and 17-37 in doubles matches in 2008.

Scouting Willamette

Willamette heads into the week with a record of 6-10 overall and 6-7 in NWC play. Last weekend, the Bearcats picked up wins at home against George Fox and Lewis & Clark. In singles play, Willamette is 35-56 on the year while in doubles play, the Bearcats are 17-31.
