LOGGER WOMEN DOMINATE DIIIS AT NCRC INVITE
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Finishing behind just one Division III boat all day, the nationally-ranked Puget Sound Loggers women's crew program rowed great at the Northwest Collegiate Rowing Conference (NCRC) Invitational on Saturday on Vancouver Lake.
Ranked sixth in the latest Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association/USRowing DIII poll, the UPS women's Varsity 8+ finished first in the DIII Varsity 8+ race, defeating Willamette by over seven seconds. The second V8+ boat more than doubled the gap between the first and second place boats, winning by over 15 seconds. In the open Novice 8+, the Loggers finished third but in the second Novice 8+, the Loggers finished over two seconds ahead of top-ranked Western Washington. In the JV 8+, the Loggers and Vikings battled again, this time with WWU winning by 2.77 seconds.
On the men's side, the Logger Novice 8+ finished second to Long Beach State by less than one second. The UPS Novice 4+ again battled Long Beach State, this time defeating the 49ers by 1.53 seconds to take first.
The Loggers will go oar-to-oar with the Vikings again next week when they travel to Bellingham for a dual with Western Washington.
