BIG WEEK FOR THE LOGGERS
The Loggers returned to the court last Saturday, making easy work of Pacific as they look to finish the NWC regular season strong. This week, the Loggers play at Pacific Lutheran on Wednesday, Whitworth on Friday and Whitman on Saturday.
The Loggers v. Pacific
The doubles team of Jamie Hosmer (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) and Sam McCullugh (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) won their fifth consecutive match to help lead the Puget Sound Loggers men's tennis team defeat the Pacific Boxers, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference tennis match on Saturday at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton, Ore. On the women's side, the Boxers collected the 5-4 win over UPS.
In the men's match, Hosmer and McCullugh were tested by the team of Michael Okada and Justin Kinney but the top UPS doubles team was able to outlast the Boxers' top team, 9-8. The Loggers continued to dominate doubles play, taking a 3-0 lead into singles play. In individual play, Hosmer defeated Okada at the number one spot, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 as the Loggers won five of six singles matches.
Scouting Pacific Lutheran
The Lutes head into the week with a record of 10-2 in NWC play and 10-10 overall. PLU headed down to California for spring break, only to lose five consecutive matches. In singles play, the Lutes are 64-56 while in doubles play, they are an even 30-30.
Scouting Whitworth
The Pirates come into this weekend's match with a record of 12-8 overall and 9-5 in NWC play. In singles play, Whitworth is 58-62 on the year while in doubles play, the record improves to 32-28.
Scouting Whitman
The Missionaries come into this weekend as the 18th-ranked team in the country, holding a 17-9 overall record and a perfect 14-0 NWC record. In individual play, Whitman is 100-54 and the strength continues in double play, holding a record of 52-23.
