TAKING A WELL-DESERVED BREAK

The Loggers take some well deserved time off this week after playing six matches in nine days. During that stretch, the Loggers went 5-1 to push their season record to 7-2.

The Loggers vs. Potsdam State

Playing the first ever game on the artificial surface of Lower Baker Field, the Puget Sound Loggers won a thriller over the Potsdam State Bears, 15-14, in a NCAA Division III women's lacrosse match on Thursday evening in Tacoma, Wash.

In the first half, Potsdam went on a 5-0 run early in the game to take a commanding 6-1 lead over the Loggers. The Bears eventually pushed that lead to 8-2 before the Loggers came roaring back, scoring seven unanswered goals over the final 4:29 of the period to take a 9-8 lead into halftime.

In the second period, the two squads exchanged goals and Potsdam tied the game at 14-14 on a goal by Jessica Asyrassian with 8:29 remaining in the game but the Loggers used a free position shot by Anna Gunderson (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) with 3:03 remaining to take the 15-14 victory over the visiting Bears.

Freshman phenom Sofia Lama (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Torrey Pines) finished the game with six goals and three assists to bring her season goal total up to 30. Junior Jessica Knight (Portland, Ore./Grant) added four goals and an assist. Lindsay O'Brien (Reading, Vt./Westminster) chipped in three goals while Gunderson finished with a pair. Freshman goalie Ana Calciano (Farmington, Conn./Miss Porter's School) was solid in net, making 18 saves on the game.

The Bears were led by five goals from Alisha Schaad. Freshman Lindsay Myers started in goal, making 11 saves and allowing the 15 Logger goals.

The Loggers vs. Oberlin

Winning their seventh game in eight games, the Puget Sound Loggers defeated the Oberlin Yeowomen, 21-10, in a NCAA Division III women's lacrosse match on Friday evening in Forest Grove, Ore. With the win, the Loggers clinch a winning season with four matches left to be played.

The Loggers (7-2) took an early advantage after scoring the game's first six goals to hold a commanding 6-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the contest. The two squads exchanged goals for the remaining minutes of the half as Puget Sound took a 9-4 lead into the break.

In the second half, Puget Sound scored the first two goals on the period and following a single Yeowomen goal, the Loggers scored two more to take a 13-5 lead. Puget Sound moved the game into a running-clock mode with 17:27 remaining when Jessica Knight (Portland, Ore./Grant) scored unassisted to give UPS a 17-7 lead. Two more goals by Knight, as well as a goal by Lindsay Pearce (Portland, Ore./Sunset) gave the Loggers the 21-10 win.

The Loggers were led in scoring by Knight, who finished with six goals and one assist. Sofia Lama (Laguna Niguel, Calif./Torrey Pines) finished with five goals and two assists while Anna Gunderson (Bloomington, Minn./Kennedy) added four goals. Freshman Ana Calciano (Farmington, Conn./Miss Porter's School) made 12 saves to collect the win while allowing the 10 Oberlin goals.

Taylor Fey led Oberlin with five goals and an assist. Kaitlin Barrer made 22 saves for the Yeowomen, allowing the 21 Logger goals.
