All-NWC Awards Handed Out For Baseball, Softball

TACOMA, Wash. - Baseball seniors Michael Olsen (Niwot, Colo.) and Ryan Gustafson (Bellevue, Wash./Sammamish) were both named First Team All-Northwest Conference while nine other Logger baseball and softball players were honored as the All-NWC teams were announced Monday evening.

Hamilton Announces Retirement From Coaching

TACOMA, Wash. – After 22 seasons, University of Puget Sound Head Softball Coach Robin Hamilton has announced her retirement from coaching. The winningest coach in Puget Sound history, Hamilton will remain with the university and continue her role as associate athletics director.

2008 Wrap-up

With the 2008 season now concluded, the Puget Sound Loggers will head into the offseason focused on next year.

PARKLAND, Wash. - Playing their final two games of 2008, the Puget Sound Loggers fell twice to the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in a Northwest Conference softball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at PLU Field in Parkland.

The weather finally cooperated with the Loggers as they had a busy week of softball, culminating with an extra-innings win over Willamette on Monday. This week, Lewis & Clark and George Fox come to Tacoma to visit the maroon and white.

TACOMA, Wash. - The Puget Sound Loggers were guests on their own field but it didn't faze the maroon and white as they split a pair of Northwest Conference softball games in extra innings, 4-3 and 9-7, against the Willamette Bearcats on Monday afternoon at Logger Softball Field in Tacoma. Because the games were originally scheduled at Willamette, the Loggers played as the visiting team in both games.

TACOMA, Wash. - With the defending national champions in town, the Puget Sound Loggers knew the fourth-ranked Linfield Wildcats were good and the 'Cats collected the Northwest Conference softball doubleheader, 8-0 and 8-3, on Sunday afternoon at Logger Softball Field in Tacoma, Wash.

TACOMA, Wash. - Combining for six home runs and 24 runs on the day, the Willamette Bearcats couldn't be stopped as they swept the Puget Sound Loggers in a Northwest Conference softball doubleheader, 7-2 and 17-7, on Saturday at Logger Softball Field in Tacoma.

For the second straight weekend, the Loggers fell victim to the weather but not before getting one game in at Whitworth. This week, the Loggers hope to take advantage of some predicted nice weather as they have six games scheduled for Saturday through Monday.

SPOKANE, Wash. - The final three games of the University of Puget Sound - Whitworth University Northwest Conference softball series have been cancelled due to unplayable conditions at Whitworth's Diana Marks Field. The games are not expected to be made-up.

Late Comeback Dooms Loggers

SPOKANE, Wash. - Erasing a 6-0 Puget Sound lead, the Whitworth Pirates posted a late comeback to defeat the UPS Loggers, 11-6, in a Northwest Conference softball game on Saturday afternoon in Spokane. Snow in Spokane forced the scheduled doubleheader to be reduced to a single game.

Off To Spokane

The Loggers were scheduled to play four games last weekend but the late winter blast prevented UPS from getting three of those four games in. This week, they hope to avoid Mother Nature's wrath as they head to Spokane for four-games with Whitworth.

Softball Tilt With SFU Cancelled

TACOMA, Wash. - Already having lost one game to moisture this week, the Puget Sound Loggers have cancelled Saturday's scheduled softball doubleheader with Simon Fraser, as announced on Friday morning. The twinbill, which was to be a pair of exhibition games for the Loggers, is not expected to be made up.

Rain Cuts Softball's Day Short

TACOMA, Wash. - In what was supposed to be a non-conference softball doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Logger softball field in Tacoma, Wash., the Puget Sound Loggers fell to the Saint Martin's Saints, 10-0, in the first game before a mixture of rain and hail ended game two in the second inning.

Back in the Northwest

The Loggers will play a pair of non-conference doubleheaders this week before turning the focus back to Northwest Conference play next week. UPS hosts Saint Martin's on Wednesday before hosting NAIA-power Simon Fraser on Saturday.

The Loggers defeated Knox, 3-1, in the first game before falling to Williams, 8-4, in the final game in the sun.

Loggers Sweep Oregon Foes In Season Openers

PORTLAND, Ore. - With a strong offensive showing and a pair of strong pitching performances from freshman pitchers, the Puget Sound Loggers opened up the 2008 season with two wins. In their first game of the season, the Loggers blasted past Northwest Christian, 12-3. In the nightcap, Puget Sound scored early in a 5-3 win over Corban.
