BACK ON THE ROAD
The Loggers hit the road this weekend, traveling for a pair in Oregon before heading south to California for spring break.
The Loggers vs. George Fox
Friday was a good day for the Puget Sound men's and women's tennis programs as both teams earned victories over the George Fox Bruins by identical scores of 6-3 in a pair of Northwest Conference matches. The men earned the win down in Oregon while the women earned the victory at home in the UPS Tennis Pavilion.
In the men's match, the Loggers picked up two points in doubles play. In singles play, Jamie Hosmer (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) defeated Ralf Schulz, 6-4, 6-1, at the number one singles spot while Nick Amland (Scottsdale, Ariz./Eastlake) earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at the number two spot over Mac Ovenell. Freshman Alex Harrsion (Southborough, Mass./The River School) had a solid match, earning a 6-0, 6-1 win at the number four spot over Jordon Vargas while Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community) was victorious at the number five position, 6-1, 6-2, over Billy Johnson.
In the women's match, the Loggers earned victories at the numbers one and three doubles spots to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. Katie Schultz (Auburn, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) was victorious at the top singles spot, 6-3,6-2, over Heather Orr. Alissa Wolf (Durango, Colo.) was a winner at the number three spot, 6-1, 6-1, over Kelsie Howell. Ashley Spencer (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) and Rochelle Hebert (Lake Tapps, Wash./Auburn-Riverside).
The Loggers vs. Willamette
Following three competitive doubles matches, the Willamette Bearcats won all six individual matches to take an 8-1 win over the Puget Sound Loggers in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday afternoon at UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.
In doubles play, the team of Katie Schultz (Auburn, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) and Samantha Taylor (Hood River, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) picked up the Loggers lone point of the afternoon with a 8-6 win over Alaine Anderson and Jamie Slonaker. Taylor nearly collected a win in individual play in singles play against Alyssa Morrison.
Scouting Lewis & Clark
The Pioneers have been strong this season and head into the second half of conference play with a record of 6-3 overall and 6-1 in NWC play. Their lone NWC loss came at Linfield, falling 5-4 to the defending NWC champs. In NWC play, the Pios are 30-12 in singles matches and 14-7 in NWC play.
Scouting Linfield
The Wildcats come into the weekend with a record of 8-3 overall, including 8-0 in NWC play. All three of their losses have come against Division I opponents. In NWC play, the Wildcatsa are 33-13 in singles matches and 20-4 in doubles play.
Scouting Whittier
The Poets currently sit at 0-7 on the season. Their match with the Loggers was a late add after a match against La Sierra fell apart.
Scouting La Verne
The Leopards currently sit at 3-8 overall and 3-1 in SCIAC play. Their lone wins this year have come at Caltech and at home against Whittier and Cal Lutheran.
