LOGGER TENNIS BEATS UP BRUINS
TACOMA, Wash. - Friday was a good day for the Puget Sound men's and women's tennis programs as both teams earned victories over the George Fox Bruins by identical scores of 6-3 in a pair of Northwest Conference matches. The men earned the win down in Oregon while the women earned the victory at home in the UPS Tennis Pavilion.
In the men's match, the Loggers picked up two points in doubles play. In singles play, Jamie Hosmer (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) defeated Ralf Schulz, 6-4, 6-1, at the number one singles spot while Nick Amland (Scottsdale, Ariz./Eastlake) earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at the number two spot over Mac Ovenell. Freshman Alex Harrsion (Southborough, Mass./The River School) had a solid match, earning a 6-0, 6-1 win at the number four spot over Jordon Vargas while Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community) was victorious at the number five position, 6-1, 6-2, over Billy Johnson.
In the women's match, the Loggers earned victories at the numbers one and three doubles spots to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. Katie Schultz (Auburn, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) was victorious at the top singles spot, 6-3,6-2, over Heather Orr. Alissa Wolf (Durango, Colo.) was a winner at the number three spot, 6-1, 6-1, over Kelsie Howell. Ashley Spencer (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) and Rochelle Hebert (Lake Tapps, Wash./Auburn-Riverside).
