The Loggers vs. Whitworth
Playing in their first road match of the 2008 season, the Puget Sound Loggers were swept by the Whitworth Pirates, 9-0, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Friday afternoon at Scotford Tennis Center in Spokane.
The Pirates picked up the early 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles play. In singles competition, the Loggers were unable to force any third sets as the Pirates picked up their fifth victory of the season.
The Loggers vs. Whitman
Despite several close matches, the Puget Sound Loggers were swept by the Whitman Missionaries, 9-0, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday in Walla Walla, Wash.
After Whitman picked up three points in double play, the Loggers had some strong individual performances in singles play. At the number four spot, Ashley Spencer (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) played Divneet Kaur close before falling 7-5, 6-4. At the number six spot, Penny Horowitz (Berkeley, Calif./Head Royce) fell in a three-set match to Alex Robinson, 4-6, 6-1, 10-8.
Scouting George Fox
The Bruins are 1-6 overall and 1-5 in NWC play this season. They earned their first win of the year last weekend at Pacific. The Bruins are 6-36 in singles play this year and 5-16 in doubles matches.
Scouting Willamette
The Bearcats head into this weekend with a record of 1-6 overall and 1-5 in NWC play. They earned their first win of the year last weekend at George Fox. Willamette is 14-28 overall in singles matches and 6-15 in doubles play.
