#15 WHITMAN SWEEPS M. TENNIS
TACOMA, Wash. - Taking on the 15th-ranked team in the nation and several of Division III's best players, the Puget Sound Loggers were swept by the Whitman Missionaries, 9-0, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday afternoon at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.
The number one doubles team of Jamie Hosmer (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) and Sam McCullugh (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) played Matt and Dan Solomon of Whitman tough before falling 8-3 as Whitman picked up three points in doubles play.
In singles play, Alex Harrison (Southborough, Mass./The River School) was Puget Sound best hope for a point, nearly forcing a third set before falling to Robert Rye, 6-4, 7-6 (6).
The Loggers hit the road next week, traveling to George Fox on Friday and Willamette on Saturday.
