UPS RUNNERS HONORED FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS

NEW ORLEANS - Following a strong fall on the athletic side, the Puget Sound Logger cross country teams have been honored for their academic success by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Liana Roberts (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) was named to the 2007 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Team.  On the men's side, senior Zach Stoddard (Los Osos, Calif./Morro Bay) was named to the 2007 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Men's All-Academic Team.

The individual award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically.  To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA regional meet.

The Logger women's team was also honored as a whole as they were named to the list of 2007 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Teams.  For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet.  The team must also have a minimum 3.10 team cumulative grade point average.
