Free Bus Passes Offered by Transportation Task Force
February 21, 2008
TACOMA, Wash. - University of Puget Sound's Transportation Task Force recently announced it is distributing 75 free bus passes to members of the campus community in an effort to promote alternative transportation methods. The passes are available from February to April for Pierce Transit, Lacey Express, and Seattle Express buses.
The primary goal of this project is to promote the use of public transportation as an alternative to single-car commutes. With that in mind, the task force applied for and received funding from the university's Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC) to purchase bus passes for faculty, staff, or students. Pierce Transit, the local transit operator, generously donated a matching number of passes to expand the program.
The task force worked hard to select a cross section of commuters. In exchange for the passes, commuters will share their bus-riding adventures via a blog for the duration of the program. You can read it at www.ups.edu/buspass.xml. For more information about the free bus passes, send an e-mail message to transportation@ups.edu. Established in 2006-07, the Transportation Task Force (TTF) focuses on transportation issues affecting the sustainability of the campus community. TTF is a part of the Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC). Learn more about TTF and SAC at www.ups.edu/sustainability.
