The Logger women opened up the 2008 season last week at home and had a tough go of it, falling to Lewis & Clark and to Linfield.

The Loggers vs. Lewis & Clark

Junior Ashley Dombrow (Lake Forest, Ill./Ethel Walker School) posted the lone win for the Puget Sound Loggers as they fell to Lewis & Clark, 8-1, in the Loggers' 2008 season-opening women's tennis match on Friday afternoon at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

The Pioneers (1-1, 1-0 NWC) took a 3-0 lead coming out of doubles play to put the Loggers (0-1, 0-1 NWC) behind early in the match. In individual play, Dombrow defeated Mika Yokoyama, 6-3, 6-0, to give the Loggers their lone point of the afternoon.

The Loggers vs. Linfield

Taking on the winners of the last seven conference titles, the Puget Sound Loggers were swept by the Linfield Wildcats, 9-0, in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday afternoon at the UPS Tennis Pavilion in Tacoma, Wash.

The Wildcats (1-2, 1-0 NWC) raced out to a quick lead after taking all three doubles matches over the Loggers (0-2, 0-2 NWC). The Linfield dominance continued into singles competition as they took all six of the individual matches.

Scouting Pacific

The Boxers head into the weekend with a record of 0-3 overall and 0-2 in NWC play. The Boxers are still looking for their first individual or doubles win.

Scouting Pacific Lutheran

The Lutes split their matches last weekend in a pair of "home" matches played at the UPS Tennis Pavilion. PLU defeated Willamette 6-3 before falling to Lewis & Clark, 3-6. Ashley Brooks in 2-0 at the number four spot while Deanna Ellmer and Esther Ham are 2-0 at the number three doubles slot.
