The Loggers opened up the 2008 season on the road last week, split a pair of matches at Lewis & Clark and Linfield.
Last Weekend
Picking up a 6-3 season opening win over Lewis & Clark, the Puget Sound Loggers feel to the Linfield Wildcats, 8-1, in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Saturday afternoon in McMinnville, Ore.
On Friday, the Loggers used a pair of victories in doubles play, coupled with four of six wins in singles competition to take the 6-3 win at Lewis & Clark. Junior Jamie Hosmer (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) picked up a win at the second position, 7-5, 6-4. Sophomore Scooter Sabel (Sun Valley, Idaho/Community) had the largest margin of victory on the match, defeating Adam Rager, 6-0, 6-3.
On Saturday, the Loggers fell behind early as Linfield took all three doubles matches. The team of Nick Amlund (Scottsdale, Ariz./Eastlake (Wash.)) and Andrew Timmons (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) nearly stole a point from the Wildcats, falling 9-8 at the second doubles slot. In singles play, Sabel posted the lone Puget Sound win of the afternoon, defeating Tom Wolfe, 7-6, 6-3.
Scouting Pacific Lutheran
The Lutes head into the weekend with a record of 3-1 early this season. Last weekend, they earned a 9-0 win at Lewis & Clark and a 7-2 win at Willamette. Kevin Floyd is 2-1 at the top singles spot while the duo of Justin Larimore and Justin Peterson are 3-1 at the top doubles position.

The Boxers will come to Tacoma with a record of 0-3 on the year, falling to the Eastern Washington schools last weekend in Beaverton, Ore. Michael Okada has been a bright spot for the Boxers, as he is 2-1 at the top singles spot.
