#11 LOGGERS CALM BEARCATS, 90-75
SPOKANE, Wash. - Wrapping up the first round of Northwest Conference play, the 11th-ranked Puget Sound Loggers breezed past the Willamette Bearcats, 90-75, in a NWC men's basketball game on Saturday evening in Salem, Ore.
The Loggers (14-2, 7-1 NWC) traded the leads with the Bearcats (6-11, 4-4 NWC) for most of the first half. Puget Sound held the lead at the end of the first half, taking a 43-34 advantage into the break.
In the second half, it was all Puget Sound as the Loggers continued to build their lead over the Bearcats, eventually taking the 90-75 victory.
The Loggers were led by 25 points from junior guard Antwan Williams (Portland, Ore./Madison). Jason Foster (Tacoma, Wash./Foss) added 21 while Robert Krauel (Phoenix, Ariz./North Canyon) and James Pinkney (San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine) added 15 and 11 respectively off the bench.
Willamette picked up 20 points from Mike Smith and 13 each from Corey Constantino and Kyler McClary. Cameron Mitchell added 12 points and 11 boards off the bench.
The Loggers next take the floor on Friday night when they host Pacific. Tip-off with the Boxers is set for 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Fieldhouse in Tacoma.
