HERE WE GO AGAIN!

With finals in the rearview mirror and having had some time away for the holidays, the Puget Sound Loggers are ready to hit the hardwood once again, traveling to Santa Barbara, Calif. to take on Edgewood (Wis.) on Friday and either Baruch (N.Y.) or Westmont on Saturday.

Statistically Speaking

The Loggers lead the Northwest Conference in scoring offense (104.0 ppg), field goal percentage (.514), three-point field goal percentage (.426), steals (13.83 spg), turnover margin (+10.33), and three-point field goals made (11.00 3pg).

Antwan Williams' 19.8 ppg is third in the conference in scoring but he leads the conference in steals (3.17 spg). Austin Boyce is coming off the bench to lead the NWC in field goal percentage (.639).

On the national stage, in games through 12/16, the Loggers led the nation in scoring margin (+24.5), were fifth in scoring offense, seventh in three-point field goals per game, 10th in field goal percentage,11th in steals per game, and 17th in three-point field goal percentage.

Individually, Antwan Williams is seventh in assists per game (7.5) and Taylor Marsh is ninth in three-point field goals per game (3.8 3pg).

Among The Nation's Best

The Loggers held steady in the D3Hoops.com Top 25, holding down the 10th spot for the second straight week.

Chasing 1,000

The Loggers have three players who could score their 1,000th point with the maroon and white this season, including a pair of juniors. Senior Taylor Marsh has scored 738 points in 83 games played for the Loggers and would have to average 14.55 ppg the rest of the way to reach 1,000 points by the end of the season.

Junior guard Antwan Williams has 743 points in 59 games and would have to average 14.28 ppg the rest of the way to reach 1,000 by the end of the year. Also a junior, Jason Foster has 792 points in 58 games, including 57 started, and he would have to average 11.55 ppg to reach 1,000 this season.

Scouting Edgewood

The Eagles, from Madison, Wis., head to California with a record of 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the Northern Athletics Conference. Chris DeMarco has been pacing the offense with 20.5 of the Eagles 69.2 ppg. Charlie Averkamp leads the way on defense, averaging 8.6 rpg. Edgewood holds a +7.8 rebounding margin over their opponents in 2007-08.

Scouting Baruch

The Bearcats from New York City head to Westmont with a record of 4-5 overall, having won three of their last four contests. Phil Schatz and George Kunkel lead the offense, averaging 13.8 and 13.0 ppg respectively. Kunkel is also adding 9.9 rpg on the defensive side of the ball.

Scouting Westmont

The host Warriors come into the tournament with a record of 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the GSAC. Dan Rasp leads the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 ppg, while Tyler Dutton is putting up 12.3 ppg. Rasp is also leading the team in rebounds, averaging 4.6 rpg.

The Coach

Justin Lunt enters his second season as head coach of the Logger men's basketball program. A graduate of Pacific Lutheran, Lunt is a native of San Diego, Calif. Heading into this weekend, Lunt now has a career record of 24-7, including 11-5 in the Northwest Conference.
