RUNNING FOR A TITLE
The Loggers will give it all they have this week as they travel to Northfield, Minn. for the 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship, hosted by St. Olaf College.
The Loggers Last Weekend
For the second straight year, the Puget Sound Logger women's cross country team will be traveling to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship after placing second at the NCAA Division III West Region Championship at McIver Park in Estacada, Ore. Joining the women in Northfield, Minn. next weekend will be sophomore Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.), who picked up an individual spot on the men's side.
The women were led by freshman phenom Kenna Patrick (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson), who finished third with a time of 21:41.80. Senior Brittany Hodgson (Grants Pass, Ore.) took fifth, covering the 6,000-meter course in 21:53.10. The Loggers finished with 86 points as a team, 43 points behind first-place Willamette but 34 points ahead of third place Colorado College.
On the men's side, Willamette and Occidental took the automatic team spots but Reynolds earned his trip to Minnesota, finishing ninth with a time of 25:29.85. Puget Sound's next highest finisher was Zach Stoddard (Los Osos, Calif./Morro Bay), finishing 30th in a time of 26:24.05.

Mike Orechia leads the Logger cross country program for the 11th season. A 1978 graduate of Springfield College, Orechia also holds a Masters from San Francisco State and has made coaching stops at San Francisco State, Danvers High School and University of Chicago.
