LOGGERS IN THE MIDWEST

TACOMA, Wash. - Both the Puget Sound Logger volleyball and women's soccer teams knew that they would be heading to Illinois this week to continue runs towards the national championship but the details of their adventures became much clearer on Monday.  The volleyball team will be representing the entire West Region at the 2007 NCAA Division III National Championships in Bloomington, Ill. while the women's soccer team will be traveling to Wheaton, Ill. for the Sectional portion of the NCAA DIII Women's Soccer Championships.

The Logger volleyball team will head to the Prarie State  on Tuesday in preperation for their Thursday afternoon match against Wisconsin-Whitewater.  The match with the Warhawks will kick off the action in the Shirk Center on the Illinois Wesleyan campus at 1:00 p.m. CST (11:00 a.m. PST) with live stats and video webcast available.  Joining the Loggers and Warhawks at the championship will be Amherst, Juniata, Washington (Mo.), Emory, Wittenberg and Stevens Institute of Technology.  Tickets to the event are listed at $5 for adults, $3 for students and $2 for children.

The Puget Sound women's soccer team will  be about 125 miles to the north in Wheaton, Ill. when they take the field on Friday night to take on Wartburg College of Waverly, Iowa.  The Knights and Loggers are scheduled to begin their game at about 7:30 p.m. CST (5:30 p.m. PST)  or 30 minutes following the match between Wisconsin-Stevens Point and host-Wheaton.  Live stats will be offered for all matches at the site and tickets for each day will be $6 for adults, $3 for students/seniors and $2 for children ages 3-12.

In Minnesota, the Logger women's cross country team will be racing at the NCAA Division III Championships in Northfield, Minn.  Also competiting for the Loggers will be Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.), who will be representing the Logger men at the national meet.  The race will be run on the campus of St. Olaf College, with the women's race set to begin at 11:00 a.m. CST (9:00 a.m. PST) and the men's race at Noon CST (10:00 a.m. PST).
