LOGGER WOMEN, ALONG WITH REYNOLDS, QUALIFY FOR NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP
ESTACADA, Ore. - For the second straight year, the Puget Sound Logger women's cross country team will be traveling to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship after placing second at the NCAA Division III West Region Championship at McIver Park in Estacada, Ore. Joining the women in Northfield, Minn. next weekend will be sophomore Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.), who picked up an individual spot on the men's side.
The women were led by freshman phenom Kenna Patrick (Federal Way, Wash./Thomas Jefferson), who finished third with a time of 21:41.80. Senior Brittany Hodgson (Grants Pass, Ore.) took fifth, covering the 6,000-meter course in 21:53.10. The Loggers finished with 86 points as a team, 43 points behind first-place Willamette but 34 points ahead of third place Colorado College.
On the men's side, Willamette and Occidental took the automatic team spots but Reynolds earned his trip to Minnesota, finishing ninth with a time of 25:29.85. Puget Sound's next highest finisher was Zach Stoddard (Los Osos, Calif./Morro Bay), finishing 30th in a time of 26:24.05.
The 2007 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will begin next Saturday with the women's race at 11:00 a.m. CST and the men's race at Noon CST.
