NWC CHAMP LOGGERS DOMINATE ALL-NWC AWARDS
SPOKANE, Wash. - After picking up a sixth straight Northwest Conference women's soccer title, the Puget Sound Loggers were represented well on the 2007 All-NWC teams. Sophomore forward Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.) was named NWC Offensive Player of the Year while sophomore keeper Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) was named NWC Defensive Player of the Year.
Joining Levien and Wolfer on the First Team All-NWC was senior defender Lauren Gehring (Port Orchard, Wash./South Kitsap), junior midfielder Fiona Gornick (Portland, Ore./Grant) and senior forward Adrienne Folsom (Lakewood, Wash./Charles Wright Academy).
2007 marks the fourth straight season a Logger has been named NWC Offensive Player of the Year and the sixth straight year the Loggers have had a NWC Player of the Year on their roster, including all five NWC Defensive Player of the Year awards.
Senior forward Katie Gilette (Fairbanks, Alaska/West Valley) was named to the Second Team All-NWC while junior defender Nikki Graff (Corvallis, Ore./Crescent Valley), freshman defender Ryne Olson (Durango, Calif.) and freshman midfielder Kayla Boortz (Greenwood Village, Colo./Regis Jesuit) were all named Honorable Mention All-NWC.
Whitworth coach Sean Bushey was named NWC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year, the first time since 2001 that a UPS coach was not honored. Bushey was also named 2007 NWC Men's Coach of the Year.
