INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA announced brackets early Monday morning for the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship and the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship and the Puget Sound Loggers will be participating in both this season.
The Logger volleyball team, who finished the regular season with a 17-8 overall record and a 12-4 Northwest Conference record, will travel to Hayward, Calif. and Cal State East Bay to face off against Nebraska Wesleyan on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the first round of the six-team regional. The Prairie Wolves finished the regular season with a record of 17-11 overall and 8-8 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Joining the Loggers and Prarie Wolves in California will be Pacific Lutheran, La Verne, Colorado College and the host CSUEB Pioneers.
The Logger women's soccer team knew a few weeks ago that they would be participating in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship but it wasn't until Monday morning that they learned the particulars. The Loggers, 18-1-1 on the season, will play host to a four-team first/second round session and will take on Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Cal Lutheran on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the first round. Joining the Loggers and Regals in Tacoma are the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs and the Whitworth Pirates, who will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. All four teams have played at Puget Sound this season against the Loggers, with Puget Sound earning victories in all three matches.
