#4 LOGGERS STAY UNDEFEATED WITH 3-2 WIN AT WILLAMETTE

SALEM, Ore. - Using a pair of goals from sophomore Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.), the fourth-ranked Puget Sound Loggers stayed undefeated on the 2007 campaign with a 3-2 win over the Willamette Bearcats in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon in Salem, Ore.

The Bearcats (4-6-2, 3-5-2 NWC) took the lead in the 27th winute when Alex Batzer headed in a corner kick from Kelsey Rogel to give Willamette a 1-0 lead.  The Bearcats lead lasted just 30 seconds as Levien scored the first of her two on a shot from 10 yards out to even things up at 1-1.  Levien gave the Loggers the lead in the 31st minute on a shot from nine yards out into an empty net.

The Loggers (13-0-0, 9-0-0 NWC) made it 3-1 in the 70th minute when Fiona Gornick (Portland, Ore./Grant) earned possession of a loose ball and shot from about eight yards out to pick up her seventh goal of the year.  Lauren Miller of Willamette tried to lead the Bearcat comeback with a goal in the 78th minute but it wasn't enough as Puget Sound earned the 3-2 win.

Logger keeper Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) made two saves to collect the win.  The powerful Logger offense outshot the Bearcats 31-7 on the game.

Puget Sound returns home on Sunday afternoon for the first of three straight games in Tacoma.  The Loggers will take on Lewis & Clark on East Field, beginning at Noon.
