PK ALL LOGGERS NEED TO STAY IN FIRST
TACOMA, Wash. - The only goal of the game came on a penalty kick in the 23rd minute but that was all the fifth-ranked Puget Sound Loggers needed to stay undefeated on the 2007 season, picking up a 1-0 win over the George Fox Bruins in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Sunday afternoon at Peyton Field in Tacoma, Wash.
Following a foul in the box at the 22:46 mark, Fiona Gornick (Portland, Ore./Grant) was given a penalty kick and she was able to put the ball past George Fox keeper Jessica Cardwell. The Loggers outshot the Bruins on the day, 21-5, forcing Logger keeper Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) to only make one save while collecting the shutout.
Puget Sound will travel to Willamette on Saturday before returning to Tacoma on Sunday to take on Lewis & Clark.
