LOGGERS 8TH, 13TH AT WILLAMETTE INVITATIONAL
SALEM, Ore. - Led by a third-place finish by senior Brittany Hodgson (Grants Pass, Ore.) and an 11th place finish by sophomore Emily Timmer (Tacoma, Wash./Tacoma Baptist), the Puget Sound women's cross country team finished in eighth place at the competitive Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore. The Logger men finished 13th in the the 27-team field.
Hodgson finished the 5K race with a time of 17:37.15 to finish third behind Willamette's Sarah Zerzan and Elizabeth Chepkosgei from Alaska Anchorage. Timmer nearly broke into the top ten, finishing with a time of 18:02.60. Unfortunately for the Loggers, their third runner didn't cross the line until the 19:20.55 mark when Liana Roberts (Kirkland, Wash./Lake Washington) finished 66th in the 265 runner field.
On the men's side, Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) led the way, finished 35th with a time of 25:29.25 on the 8k course. Trevor Hanlin (Grants Pass, Ore.) was second for the Loggers, finishing 46th with a time of 25:42.30. The race was won by Chris Erichsen of St. John's (Minn.) with a time of 24:10.65.
The Loggers will run again next week, traveling across town to participate in the PLU Invitational at University Golf Course in Parkland.
