#7 LOGGERS OUTSHOOT, OUTSCORE BEARCATS, 3-2
TACOMA, Wash. - The seventh-ranked Puget Sound Loggers outshot their opponents from Willamette, 26-8, and outscored the Bearcats as well, 3-2, in a Northwest Confernce women's soccer game on Sunday in Tacoma. With the win, the Loggers stay undefeated.
The Loggers (6-0-0, 2-0-0 NWC) got on the scoreboard for the first time in the 13th minute when senior Adrienne Folsom (Lakewood, Wash./Charles Wright Academy) found the net to give UPS a 1-0 lead. Willamette tied it up in the 21st minute when Lauren Miller placed a ball in the upper right corner of the net.
UPS retook the lead in the 26th minute when Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.) headed in a cross from Fiona Gornick (Portland, Ore./Grant) to give the Loggers a 2-0 lead. Alyx Tilley (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia) doubled the Logger lead to two goals in the 34th minute, after redirrecting a Lauren Gehring (Port Orchard, Wash./South Kitsap) shot as Puget Sound took a 3-0 lead into the half.
The only goal of the second half came in the 78th minute when Emily Gross of Willamette fired from about 45 yards out and got the ball over the head of Logger keeper Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline). Wolfer made four saves in win for the Loggers.
UPS travels to Pacific Lutheran on Wednesday to take on the Lutes in a NWC contest, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in Parkland.
