Multicultural Student ServicesMulticultural Student Services focuses on providing resources and support for students of color; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students; women; students of all faith backgrounds; and all students interested in multicultural issues. Staff members coordinate the advising for many student groups, including the Asian Pacific American Student Union; B-GLAD (Bisexuals, Gays, Lesbians, and Allies for Diversity); Black Student Union; Community for Hispanic Awareness; Hui O Hawai`i; Jewish Students Organization; VAVA; VOX; as well as a variety of educational and social activities to promote cross-cultural awareness. A meeting place for most of these groups and a hub of activity, the Student Diversity Center (253.879.4589) is housed at 3211 N. 15th St. Member groups sponsor programs about ethnicity, religion, gender, and sexual orientation in the Center, which is open to all students. Each year the campus selects a theme around which to focus much of its programming. This year’s theme is “Rebuilding the Ivory Tower.” To learn more about the 15-year history of our Diversity Theme Year Program, visit the Diversity Web site or send us an e-mail message. |
