Paid Leave BenefitsSick LeaveIf you work full-time, you earn one working day of sick leave each month. Sick leave is accumulated to a maximum of 130 working days. If you accumulate more than 75 working days of sick leave, you have the option to exchange five days of sick leave for one day of vacation leave. Sick leave is prorated for regular, part-time staff. Vacation LeaveIf your position is not exempt from the Fair Labors Standards Act, you earn paid vacation leave on the basis of the following schedule: 0-4 years of continuous employment 6 2/3 hours per month (2 weeks/year) 4-9 years of continuous employment 10 hours per month (3 weeks/year) 9-14 years of continuous employment 12 hours per month (3 weeks & 3 days/year) 14 years of continuous employment and over 13 1/3 hours per month (4 weeks/year) If your position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act, you earn twenty (20) paid vacation leave days per year. Vacation leave is prorated for all regular, part-time staff. Holidays and Bonus DaysUniversity staff members enjoy 13 days of paid holiday and bonus day leave annually. Other Paid LeaveYou are also eligible for other forms of paid leave time such as: Bereavement LeaveYou may request up to three working days off with pay to attend the funeral and/or to make funeral arrangements for a member of your immediate family or household. To attend the funeral of a relative who is not a member of your immediate family, you may request up to one day off with pay.
Jury DutyWhen you have completed your assignment, request a Work Certification Report from Jury Administration at the County-City Building, attach it to your time sheet and forward both to the Human Resources Department.
National Guard or Reserve Duty/Military LeaveYou will be granted a military leave of absence for a maximum of ten working days per year for the purpose of attending active duty training. When you have completed your assignment, submit to the Human Resources Department a copy of your orders and pay statement along with your time sheet. You will be paid the greater of your regular salary, including shift differential, but excluding overtime, or the amount you were paid for National Guard or Reserve Duty.
Personal Business LeaveIf you cannot schedule a personal business appointment outside your normal work schedule, you may request up to two hours of personal business leave. Personal business leave is granted at the supervisor's discretion.
