Loggers Sweep Northwest Conference Postseason Awards

TACOMA, Wash. - Junior Adrienne Folsom was named Northwest Conference (NWC) Offensive Women's Soccer Player of the Year, senior Katie Wullbrandt was selected as the NWC Defensive Player of the Year, as the conference announced the 2006 All-NWC women's soccer teams on Thursday. To complete the sweep, Randy Hanson was named NWC Coach of the Year, the sixth time he has received the award.
Folsom earned the award after scoring 19 goals - a conference best , and assisting on six others, as the Loggers went 15-1-3, including 13-1-2, to win their fifth consecutive NWC crown. Wullbrandt anchored a defense that allowed just 10 goals and posted 11 shutouts on the year. Joining Folsom and Wullbrandt on the All-NWC First Team was freshman goalkeeper Kallie Wolfer, and senior defender Katy Daly.
Earning Second Team All-NWC honors was senior defender Megan Shivers, sophomore midfielder Fiona Gornick, senior midfielder Lea John, and junior forward Katie Gillette. Senior midfielder Jenna Dwiggins earned Honorable Mention All-NWC honors.
The Loggers continue to prepare for the First Round of the 2006 NCAA Division III Championship. Puget Sound will take on Hardin-Simmons on Saturday at approximately 1:30 p.m., following the other first round game that pits Trinity (Texas) against Willamette.
