Becoming a Writing Advisor

All students applying for Peer Writing Advisor positions at the Writing Center should send a letter to Julie Neff-Lippman at the Center for Writing, Learning, and Teaching, Howarth 105, by March 13, 2008 answering the following questions.

  • What is your class standing?
  • What is your major(s)? Do you have other areas of academic interest?
  • What campus or community activities have you participated in?
  • Why are you interested in working in the Writing Center?
  • What do you feel you would contribute to the Writing Center?
  • Have you ever used the Writing Center? What was your experience?
  • Which courses have you taken that have had a writing component? Who were the professors?

Please include your current address and phone number.

Along with a letter addressing these questions, applicants should attach two papers with the professor's comments and a transcript.

If you are a finalist, we will call you for an interview before the end of spring term.

The Peer Writing Advisor positions are open to students with at least a 3.3 G.P.A. who will be enrolled at the University of Puget Sound during the 2008-09 school year. Preference will be given to students who will be juniors and seniors during the next academic year.
