Ensemble Auditions, 2007

All incoming and returning students will audition in the Fall for ensembles and ensemble placement.  Audition requirements and sign-up sheets for all auditions will be on the bulletin board outside of the School of Music Office,  Room 111 in the Music Building, August 17.  Audition slots fill quickly, so those who register earlier rather than later will have a broader selection of times. 

VOICE
Adelphian Concert Choir & Dorian Singers
Audition required
August 29 or August 31, 9:00 am–3:00 pm 
Music Room L6.
Bring a prepared solo.  If you don’t have a prepared solo, a well-known patriotic song or folk song will be provided.

Voci d’Amici
Audition required during the first week of classes
You must first be accepted as a member of the Adelphian Concert Choir
Audition will consist of an assigned madrigal or other representative repertory

University Chorale
No audition required
First rehearsal September 4, 3:00 pm

STRINGS
University Symphony Orchestra & String Orchestra
Audition required
September 4&6, 2:00-5:30 pm
Schneebeck Concert Hall
Audition once for both groups
Audition consists of excerpts chosen by the conductor.  It is recommended that students study the excerpts before the audition.  Selection into the String Orchestra (limited in size) will be made by the conductor.

WINDS, BRASS & PERCUSSION
University Wind Ensemble
Audition required
August 29 or August 31, 10:00 am–2:00 pm

Audition consists of excerpts chosen by the conductor
Students will also be asked to play major and chromatic scales and sight read during the audition.  On September 5, there will be a mandatory meeting for all Wind Ensemble students at 4:00 pm and for all U-Band students at 5:45 pm in Music Room L1.  For additional information regarding any of the bands (Wind Ensemble, University Band or Jazz Band), please email the Director of Bands, Dr. Robert Taylor.

Audition consists of two prepared excerpts, one fast and one slow, in jazz style.  If you can improvise, you should be prepared to demonstrate this.

No audition required
