Finding a Fit

College is a time to explore and develop interests in many different subjects.  Often, students find that their interests change during the first and second years.  Because of this, it's common to question your "major" decision. If you have found that the major you have chosen no longer "fits" for you, the following resources may be helpful.

Assessing your study strategies
If your major isn't a good fit, some of your academic courses might prove to be challenging.. The Center for Writing, Learning, and Teaching offers services such as tutoring, study strategy courses, and the Writing Center, which can help you overcome some of those challenges while you explore other "major" options.

Identifying your interests, skills, and work values
The more you know about yourself - your interests, skills, work values, etc. -the better prepared you will be to make career and "major" decisions. In CES, you can meet one-on-one with a career counselor who will help you discover more about who you are and what path is right for you.  Call CES at 253.879.3161 or stop by Howarth 101 to schedule an appointment.

Career Awareness Course (CRDV 203)
The Career Awareness Course is a .5 unit class that is offered during both fall and spring semesters.  It is designed to take you through the career/major decision process and provide you with skills to market your liberal arts education.

Exploring other major and career options

Testing major and career decisions
It may be helpful to "try on" some of your other major and career options. Internships, Volunteer Experiences, Campus Activities, and related part-time and summer employment are great ways to do this. As an added bonus, you'll develop skills and experience to put on your resume!
