The Service Scene is the monthly newsletter published by CIAC and distributed throughout the campus. It features:

  • recent service requests from the community
  • service activities conducted by our students either as individuals or in group projects
  • student features focusing on service experiences
  • announcements of up-and-coming events

Can students find a variety of service opportunities in Tacoma through CIAC or the Service Scene?

A.

Absolutely! CIAC coordinates requests from more than 200 Tacoma service providers. If you can't find something that is relevant to your interests, we can probably find it for you.

Q.

Are students able to receive recognition of their service endeavors through the Service Scene?

A.

Yes! We have a card catalogue system that is representative of the database which we keep on campus service activities. You can pick up a Volunteer Reporting Card from our office or simply call or e-mail and we'll send one to you. Your information will be included in the next issue.

What is the procedure for obtaining volunteers or for sending information to in the Service Scene?

A.

It couldn't be easier. Simply call or e-mail CIAC with as much information regarding your request as you can provide. Our Outreach Staff will reply to confirm your submission. Volunteer Request Cards obtained from CIAC are also accepted. Fill them out and send them back by the 3rd week of each month. The Service Scene is published on the first of each month.

What if I have a need that is more urgent?

A.

CIAC staff will take your information over the phone and attempt to contact students through other means. We prefer to have your written request on hand to ensure that we represent your needs accurately.
