DISCOVER THE DEFINITION OF LOGGER BASKETBALL

Puget Sound Loggers Women's Basketball

The greatness of a Logger is the sacrifices she is willing to make to ensure she reaps the rewards of her past success and failures. A Logger never finds faults with a teammate when more benefit can come from a kind word. A Logger is confident in herself and her teammates. She possesses an insatiable hunger for the game, she wears her heart on her sleeve and she exemplifies individual courage that enables her to resist those who wish to discourage. A Logger takes pride in herself, her team and her University. A Logger will be able to laugh at herself, sing off key on long van rides, ask for help, trust her teammates, make intelligent choices and share these experiences with a special group of people. She trusts that these qualities will get her through life experiences both on and off the court. I hope a Logger can look back on her experiences with great fondness and a sense of accomplishment.

Puget Sound Loggers Women's Basketball

"As a Coach, I am here at the University of Puget Sound for the student-athlete. My approach is truly simple, make a difference in their lives."

Puget Sound Loggers Women's Basketball

"Lettering four years as a basketball athlete is no comparison to your diploma. Approach your academics as though it was the biggest game of the year." (Kilty Keaton, Sarah Carnahan and Teammates Celebrate Graduation 2006)

A Combination of Academic and Basketball Excellence:

Puget Sound offers you an opportunity to earn a degree from one of the top Universities in the nation and compete in a highly successful women's basketball program. Puget Sound offers a small inviting campus, an outstanding liberal arts education and personal classroom settings. The old-style brick buildings with colorful ivy and grand evergreens provide the student with an ideal Pacific Northwest environment. Mt. Rainier, visible across campus, is a daily reminder of how beautiful the Pacific Northwest truly is.

Success in Both Academics and Basketball:

The University of Puget Sound is one of the most challenging academic institutions in the Northwest, rated in the top 300 by Fiske Guide to Colleges. Incoming Freshmen have an average SAT score of 1240 with a GPA of 3.57. Numerous members of our team were named to the academic Dean's List last season. Our combined overall GPA is over 3.00 for six consecutive years, with a 99% graduation ratio. The Women's practice and travel schedules allow the athletes optimum amount of time for study and course work. We train 5-6 days a week during season and our Conference games are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays. Our basketball program is designed not to monopolize your time. We expect our student-athletes to excel in the classroom and on the basketball court.

Division, League and Level of Competition:

We are members of the NCAA Division III. Our goal is to be one of the top teams in the nation. Our travel plans, tournaments, non-league and league opponents afford us the opportunity to play nationally ranked Division III programs throughout the year. We are members of the Northwest Conference which includes eight other Universities and Colleges in Washington and Oregon areas. In the past eight seasons, since joining this league we have taken the League title in 1996-97 and 2003-04 and placed second in 1997-98, 1998-99, 2002-03 and 2005-06.We received an at large berth to the NCAA III national tournament in 2003-04 advancing to the Elite Eight Championship and an at large berth in 2005-06 advancing to the round of 32.
