RECRUITING

Thank you for your interest in the University of Puget Sound and in our Women's Fastpitch Softball Program. It is our aim to provide you with a quality education and a quality athletic experience. Our student-athletes have a dual commitment, first to academics and secondly to softball.

Our softball program is demanding, challenging, rewarding and fun. We believe that athletic participation serves to build self-esteem, confidence and a strong work ethic. Sport can provide lifelong lessons for all involved, and we will work toward those goals within our softball program.

We are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and the Northwest Conference (NWC). Team selection takes place during February, and the squad consists of approximately 20 members. Our 36 game schedule includes teams from the Washington-Oregon area as well as a spring break trip. In 1991 and 1995, we advanced to the NAIA National Championship Tournament and finished second at that event, and in 1999 we again ranked among the Top 20 in the nation.

Financial aid in the form of academic and need based grants, guaranteed student loans, college work-study and a host of other resources is available to qualified students. You will need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 1, 2006, for priority consideration. You may obtain this form from your high school counselor or from our financial aid office by calling 253-879-3214 or 800-396-7192.

If you are interested in knowing more about the softball program and the skill level necessary to make the varsity squad, please send me a summary of your playing experience and a videotape if it is available. In addition, please complete the enclosed questionnaire and return it to me.

Thank you again for your interest. Best of luck in all your endeavors and I look forward to hearing from you again.
