Jan joined the staff in June 2004 as the study abroad advisor. The UPS campus isn't totally new to her, having grown up in the north end of Tacoma and graduating from Wilson High School, Jan has fond memories of attending special events on the UPS campus throughout her childhood.

Working in the field of international education for over 25 years, Jan brings to the office a background in study abroad advising, international program development and extensive international travel experience. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Washington in History and over the years has continued her education by taking a variety of university courses in languages and social science. In 2000 she received a Fulbright award for study in Germany. Jan's commitment to enthusiastically support study abroad and welcome international students and scholars to campus is a natural outgrowth of her interest in and appreciation of world cultures.

As the study abroad advisor for the office Jan will assist in the advising for study abroad programs, application preparation and program coordination.

Jan and her husband Bob have four grown children and three grandchildren. Family gatherings, watching high school football and baseball games and having a U-cut Christmas tree farm as a side business all help Jan find balance and joy to her life.
